Professor Krish Ragunath is an internationally recognized expert in advanced endoscopic imaging and therapeutic endoscopy. He graduated from Madras Medical College, Chennai, India, and completed specialist training in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy in England and Wales. Following a period of clinical research at University Hospital Aintree, Liverpool, he embarked on a clinical academic career at Nottingham University Hospital in 2003. During his tenure, he established a centre of excellence in Endoscopy at Nottingham before relocating to Australia in 2019 under the Global Talent initiative.
His clinical and research interests focus on advanced endoscopic imaging of the GI tract, endoscopic ultrasound, Barrett’s oesophagus, and minimally invasive endoscopic therapies for early GI neoplasia. He has co-edited key guidelines, including the BSG Barrett’s Oesophagus Guidelines, Quality Standards in Upper GI Endoscopy, Guidelines for the Management of Gastric Premalignant Conditions, and UK Oesophageal Dilatation Guidelines.
Professor Ragunath has authored / co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters. He is a faculty member of the Endoscopy Section of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia and serves as Associate Editor for Digestive Endoscopy. Additionally, he is an international editorial board member for Endoscopy, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Translational Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His contributions to the field were recognized with the British Society of Gastroenterology Hopkins Endoscopy Prize in 2010.
